So, let me share the first of my "favorite" webcams. When my darling son went off to Auburn in 2004 (School of Finance, Class of 2008, WAR DAMN EAGLE!!), I was just really in a funk. I mean, he was my Baby for God's sake. And here he was, heading off to the Loveliest Village on the Plains without me! I was poking around on the Auburn Univ. website and I discovered......
Auburn University Webcams. Yes, I know, I was pitiful. I was reduced to logging in to the webcams every day just so I could see what the weather was like where my son was! They've added some new ones since 2004, but my favorite two have always been the
Samford Hall and Toomer's Corner ones. They update every second, so they're *almost* streaming. The Samford Hall one is also a Webcam Geocache.
Of course, as Brandon's time in Auburn went on I "tuned in" less often. If I was at work and happened to get a call from him, I'd log in then too. Just made me feel a little closer to him. He's graduated now and is working in Birmingham. But, you know, I still log into those webcams. I've always enjoyed watching people. I noticed a few months ago that they had two new cams up, both are in Ross Hall and they are both live streaming. I believe Ross Hall is the engineering school. There's a huge brass pendulum in the lobby and you can see the kids going in and out of the area. It's just the coolest. Here's a shot:
So, now you know another of my guilty pleasures: G-rated webcams. I'll share others later.
